Dustin
I drove around aimlessly for hours trying to figure out a way to convince Chloe that I was innocent. I’d told her the truth and that still wasn’t enough. I guess she trusted Adina’s trifling ass more than she did me and the thought of it all felt awfully depressing.
I still felt bad about ruining Chloe and my mama’s friendship. I never knew things could get this bad between them, hell, I didn’t know things could get this bad for us! My mama and I hadn’t spoken since the day she bailed me out. I wanted to go by and visited her, but I couldn’t go and talk to her in the condition I was in. I was an emotional mess and I didn’t want to let her see me like this. I missed Chloe so bad that it hurt. Seeing her had only made things worse. I’d wanted so badly to reach out and pull her into my arms and kiss her until both of our pain melted away.
I looked at my time in my car and realized it was 2:30 Pm. A few days ago, I made a visit to see C.J, and I’d just remembered that it was scheduled thirty minutes from now. I made a U turn and jumped on the expressway. I almost got into an accident on my way there. I’ll be sure to ask him exactly what I needed to know. Since I’d gotten out of jail last week I hadn’t thought about the rape charge much, except for the fact that it had ruined my relationship. Everyone that had touched Adina that night was the cause of it. I knew they weren’t guilty of raping her however they’d just given her a gateway to possibly send us all to jail for a few years and ruin my life.
When I pulled into the parking lot at the County Jail I popped a few Tic Tacs in my mouth to cover up the beer on my breath. I had started drinking constantly for the past week and I made myself a mental note to stop before I had become an alcoholic. I checked my appearance and made sure my pockets were empty before I made my way inside. I didn’t want to make the process going through the metal detectors longer than it had to be by having a bunch of items to sort through. I talked to a female deputy at the desk and she allowed me to go inside of the visiting area. I was searched and scanned for weapons and paraphernalia and seated at a small booth.
Before I could sit down, I saw C.J strolling toward me from the other side of the room. I could tell he was upset by the way his jawbone flexed on the side of his face. He sat down in front of me, “What’s good, Dustin?” He asked gruffly.
“Not much, I just made a visit to see how you were holding up. I have one with Josh tomorrow.
